Botox® is a purified form of botulinum toxin, a neurotoxin that works by relaxing muscle movements to eliminate wrinkles. It is a simple, non-surgical treatment that prevents and softens moderate to severe wrinkles between the brows, around the eyes (crow’s feet), and on the forehead. Botox® is a non-surgical treatment that involves the injection of a prescription medicine into the muscles. This temporarily relaxes muscle contractions and smooths wrinkles by blocking nerve impulses.
Like Botox, Xeomin is a FDA-approved cosmetic neuromodulator. Xeomin contains botulinum type A, which blocks nerve signals from firing to the muscles. It is designed to relax the muscles into which it is injected; thus improving the appearance of dynamic wrinkles and fine lines. It is also used to prevent the worsening of static wrinkles. One of the benefits of Xeomin is that it provides a natural-looking result and is well tolerated by patients with no downtime.
